Other Faiths- Judaism

11 November 2024 By vbalfour

Year 2 have been learning about Judaism in RE lessons. They understand what happens during Shabbat, that this is a happy time for Jewish people, a day free from work where they think about God and spend time together with family. During Shabbat, a special prayer of blessing is said and the family eat a piece of challah bread.  As part of our lessons this week, the children tasted challah bread. They all said it was delicious! The children are going to write to the bakery, who kindly made the challah bread for us, to say thank you.

The Rosary Challenge – October 2023

5 October 2023 By bethcarabine

October is the month of the Holy Rosary. In school we are taking part in The Mark 10 Mission Rosary Challenge. Each day we will be praying a decade of this great prayer in class.

A decade of the Holy Rosary is:

1 x Our Father

10 x Hail Mary

1 x Glory Be

During each decade we will be praying with a Mystery of the Rosary. Mysteries are moments in the life of Jesus and Mary. Imagine them in your mind. We will listen to a short piece of scripture at the start of each decade to help us enter in. There are four sets of five Mysteries:

The Joyful Mysteries

The Glorious Mysteries

The Luminous Mysteries

The Sorrowful Mysteries

Baptism in Year Two

17 February 2021 By spidrwebadmin

We have been learning about Baptism in Year Two.  We discussed the importance of the White Garment by representing purity and welcoming the baby into the Christian family though support of parents and Godparents.

The children found different white resources in the classroom such as, white cotton wool, rice and white cubes, to use to decorate a White Garment.  The children thought about the different parts of the White Garment and produced some fabulous finished pieces!

Father Dave Visits School

17 February 2021 By spidrwebadmin

Father Dave came into school to have a discussion with the children about Baptism.  He brought in a Baptismal Candle and explained how it is lit from the Easter Candle.  Father brought in some Oil of Chrism for the children to explore and discussed the different signs and symbols relating to Baptism.
