The Carol of the North East
Today, the Bishop Chadwick Catholic Education Trust launched the Carol of the North East, a song which has been produced by Mike McGrother in collaboration with all of the schools in the trust.
To celebrate the launch, some of our Year 5 children have produced a liturgy to introduce the song.
We are all so very proud of the role all of our pupils have played in this.
Art Day
On Friday, we spent time examining the work of famous artist Georges Seurat. We also explored the style of pointillism and learnt how to create images and paintings using this style.
We discovered quickly, that creating a piece of art in the style of pointillism is a difficult, time consuming task as you are only allowed to use dots and must try to blend colours together by interweaving different colours together.
The whole Year 5 team were so proud of the children’s resilience and patience and think the art work that they created is absolutely astounding. We think you’ll agree too!
Well done Year 5, we definitely have some budding little artists in our midst.
Year 5 celebrating finishing their R.E. topic
To conclude their R.E. topic, Year 5 took some time to reflect on the messages we have learnt within this unit. We carefully considered all of the different talents and qualities we all possess and where they have come from. We were able to think about how we can use our different talents and qualities to follow God’s message and then reminded ourselves about how God is like a loving parent.
We all shared prayers which thanked God for our talents and qualities and thought of practical methods that we could try to use our talents and qualities to better other people’s lives.
We finished our collective worship by listening to a song about using our talents and qualities whilst reflecting on the message.
