PSHE/RSHE

Personal, social and health education (PSHE) is essential to enable children to become well- rounded individuals; healthy, independent and responsible members of a society. It aims to help them understand how they are developing personally and socially, and tackles many complex moral, social and cultural issues that are part of growing up. The three core themes of our PSHE curriculum mean children are presented with opportunities to learn about rights and responsibilities as well as appreciate what it means to be a member of a diverse society. Children are encouraged to develop their sense of self-worth by playing a positive role in contributing to school life and their wider community. PSHE education is integral to the development of children’s values in order for them to become a positive citizen in an ever changing community.

Key skills within PSHE ensure children have the ability to build healthy, respectful relationships alongside knowledge and understanding of how to keep themselves healthy both mentally and physically.

PSHE plays a vital part of primary education, as well as discrete focused lessons, it is also embedded throughout the curriculum. Taught sensitively and inclusively, lessons are planned carefully, taking into consideration the needs and experiences of our pupils and their communities. PSHE is an important part of school assemblies where children’s spiritual, moral, social and cultural curiosity is stimulated, challenged and nurtured.
