Nursery B have been enjoying learning the story, ‘Room on the Broom’ this week. They have been very busy retelling the story using lots of actions, drawing story maps and asking the kind witch from the story lots of super questions on the telephone. They have also been on a visit to the kitchen to cook their pumpkin soup and the Secret Garden to make potion. WOW!
On the last morning of half term the children took part in a spiritual art day. The children produced some beautiful art work which will be displayed round school.
In Year 4, the children wrote letters to residents of a care home. Today, Charlie in Year 5 received a reply from Miss Holway’s grandma. The letter included lots of lovely details about what she did as a child and about how she enjoyed dancing – just like Charlie does! The rest of the children in Year 5 are looking forward to their replies.
It was another wonderful list of results for St Aloysius school as we competed with lots of other local schools today. We attended St Josephs Catholic Academy for the Year 2 South Tyneside Skipping Festival. The children worked hard to gain a total of 4 bronze awards, 7 silver and a fantastic 5 gold awards. This resulted in St Aloysius Blue team winning the overall competition. The children practised for many months to prepare and this hard work and determination certainly paid dividends today. Well done to all the schools who took part, who were all magnificent competitors and a big congratulations to every child who played such an important role.
So far this week 60 children have performed at the Customs House as part of the South Tyneside Schools Dance Festival. On Monday night Years 2, 3 and 6 took to the stage, with Y6 opening the show with their version of Uptown Funk, followed by Year 3 and Cotton Eye Joe. In the second half Year 2 performed as the Waka Waka Tribe. Then on Tuesday night Year 5 opened the show with Uptown Funk and Year 4 opened the second half with Cotton Eye Joe. Well done everyone and good luck to Years 4 and 6 who are dancing for a 2nd night on Friday!
Joel inspired all of us to write to our favourite superheroes. We wrote asking them to send us costumes to use in our imaginative play and guess what, they did! Jack even wrote and asked them to bring Mrs Crawford and Miss Doughty one! We all had a great laugh and have had a great time playing SUPERHEROES!
