Children in Need 2017

Today we had a non uniform day to raise money for Children in Need.  The children came to school in the own clothes, some choosing to dress up, wear their PJs or show their spots.  We also had a cake sale in both schools – once we have counted the money we will tell you how much was raised.  Thank you to everyone for your support!

Green Treat – Autumn 1

Reception

This afternoon we visited the Secret Garden for Reception’s green treat. We talked about fire safety and what we would do if we found matches and lighters. We also learned a rhyme to help us remember. Mrs Crawford showed us her special gloves that she wears to protect her hands. We all enjoyed watching the fire and looking for pictures in the fire. At the end of our session we all enjoyed hot chocolate. We watched how to put a fire out safely so our school didn’t burn down. Come and join us for our next Secret Garden event 1st November.

Year 1 had lots of fun, making (and eating!) biscuits.

In Year 3 the children had a birthday party to celebrate Mrs Dow’s special day!

Film night

Last night lots of the children stayed behind after school to watch a film at the PTFA film night.  Year 1 enjoyed watching the Chipmunks.

Buddy Liturgy

Today we celebrated our newest members of the school in two Buddy Liturgies. The children in year 6 have ‘buddied’ up with children in Reception class to help them settle into the school, feel safe and welcome. Many of our parents joined us in this celebration. Below are memories that were shared based upon our Reception children’s early days!

Reception spend some time with their Y6 buddies

Reception met up with their Year 6 friends today to begin practising for their ‘buddies’ liturgy. After a morning of hard work they spent a bit of time together exploring the Secret Garden. Year 6 were amazed at how confident some our youngest members were at handling the creepy crawlies found down by the allotment. Reception loved watching the Year 6 children conquer some of their fears by holding caterpillars, slugs, snails and worms! A big WELL DONE goes out  to Chahira!
